I’ll be honest. When this whole social distancing thing started, my working from home situation wasn’t exactly cute. Or productive. Picture me sitting at my kitchen table for 8-10 hours a day, slouched (obvi), chords & cups everywhere, no written to do list, and barely getting anything done. Considering we’ll likely be working from home for the foreseeable future, (hello quarantine!), I knew I had to fix my work from home set up.
Within a week of starting working from home in early March, I had several Amazon boxes in the mail (classic, amiright) and was back on track.
Here’s the thing
Working from home is wildly different than working in an office. You might still be doing the same work for the eight hours or so a day, but, it’s way harder to separate your work life from your home life. Way harder.
For me, it’s always much harder to concentrate. I literally just want to cuddle up with my Barefoot Dreams blanket and watch reruns of Gilmore Girls. Trying to focus for a long period of time when you are literally 10 steps away from a kitchen is not an easy task.
Cut yourself some slack if this sounds familiar to you. Heck – it probably is you! And because I fully believe that you should still focus on your career during this crazy time if you are in that headspace, you must set up the right workspace. It’s essential!
If you want to finally feel like working from home is energizing, productive and just less miserable overall (you likely are dealing with enough stress during this time), check out my perfect Amazon Accessories you need for WFH.
Quick tip: I have a full Amazon site here with all my favorite Amazon finds. No joke, my friends are CONSTANTLY asking where I get my workwear and desk accessories and nine out of ten times, it’s from Amazon.
The Perfect Amazon Accessories You Need for Working From Home
If you’ve been following T20S for a while, you know that I am obsessed with efficiency. And I have horrible concentration. I am always going on TikTok or Instagram, sometimes I want to do anything but work.
There are two things that I have done to increase my productivity while working-from-home during quarantine:
I have used a timer to batch my work. I find that if I can force myself to work for a short period of time, like 45 minutes, I will get a few things done really well in that time and then give myself a break.
The second thing is download the StayFocusd app on my desktop (link here, not an ad, it just helps me a lot!). It allows you to choose websites to block (ie TikTok, Facebook…) for a period of time so you can force some focus.
Lately for me, work has been busy. So has my blog work. I wake up almost every day stressed about life, the current state of the world, and how much work I have. I wrote about my special method for writing to do lists here, but essentially – I try and write down 5-7 things I’m going to get done at the top of every day. This literally is a life saver. Now I can just be stressed about the current day of the world (it’s a big deal!) rather than my job or my side hustle as well.
This way, I’m not beating myself up at the end of the day for not doing enough, and I’m also forcing prioritization when I have a million things coming my way.
That’s why this to do list is literally perfect. It not only has a space for you to write down your top 5-7 things you want to get done that day, but it also has a place to write down some daily gratitude (essential during tough times!). Try doing this at the top of every day for a week and I promise you’ll be more productive and happier.
A Great Notebook
If your anything like me, your memory skyrockets if you write something down. There’s something about putting pen to paper connects your brain to remember it even weeks later. Even though its awkward being on video calls all day (anyone else?!), I have still been taking hand written notes during work. This has ensured that I’m focusing and not drifting off during work calls.
I also feel like writing notes down in a cute AF notebook just feels so bad ass while your on a work call, being the girl boss that you are. You know what I mean?
During a time that is as stressful as these, it’s important to take care of your brain. That means that you better be doing your daily dose of meditation (personally, I’m obsessed with Headspace, the 3-minute Breathe session is out of this world).
I have lots of healthy things I’m obsessed with, but my latest go-tos are Hfactor water (hydrogen water that repairs your innards faster than normal water, I mean come on!!) and Four Sigmatic Mushroom Hot Cocoa, which is like, zero calorie hot chocolate that is the perfect snack. The HFactor water I use for workout recovery and overall skin health. I just always wake up looking and feeling better than I did the night before with it.
Four Sigmatic literally makes you feel so relaxed and happy. Plus, it tastes like hot chocolate with zero calories. Insane!
Cute, Zoom Friendly Clothes:
If you’re anything like me, your literally on conference calls all day. Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve literally been in leggings or sweatpants like 24/7. But on the top, I have been *trying* to be cute! Trying being the operative word. I have literally been obsessed with a cropped sweatshirt lately, I put together my favorites here. Also, I have cut a few of my old sweatshirts to be cropped to follow this trend too!
I can’t wait for you to make working from home a little less miserable and stressful! Let me know what you think of these WFH finds!
